Boosting Your Home Value Before You Sell
Before you put your home on the market, spruce it up. The money you spend on boosting
the value of your home will bring in extra cash once your home is sold. Be sure
to put money into only into the home improvements that will provide the most bang
for the house value buck before you sell.
Before you make any aesthetic upgrades, hire a home inspector to assess what repairs
need to be made, if any. Granite countertops lose their appeal if they’re built
over faulty plumbing or termite-infested cabinets. Also get rid of anything that
makes your house seem dated, such as 1950’s linoleum, popcorn ceilings, or moth-eaten
curtains.
A fresh coat of paint will obscure scuff marks, and brighten up the place and your
property value. Replace old fixtures, fittings, pulls, and knobs with contemporary
designs. Make sure your home is tidy and uncluttered so it looks as airy and spacious
as possible.
